Down syndrome Awareness: Presley

Down syndrome Awareness Month : Payton

Join us in October for Down Syndrome Awareness Month as families from our DSDN Birth support group share,
what they wish others knew about their child with Down syndrome.

On March 7, 2020 we were sent a incredible gift, our daughter Presley. Our precious package was given to us with something a little extra. An extra chromosome! Presley has Down syndrome and I am writing this today to share with you all how incredible it really is.

Presley having Down syndrome has changed our lives for the better! Presley is one determined little 18 month old who will conquer anything she wants to in life, but it will be on her own timeline. This in turn has allowed me to enjoy the little things again. Life was so structured and scheduled. The go, go, go mentality was too much. Now I stop and think and slow down. We truly believe Presley was sent to us for a reason and we wouldn’t change anything.

Presley communicates to us through signing as well as talking. As she is only 18 months its more specific words to things than saying a full sentence. Presley feeds & drinks independently. She does everything a typical child at 18 month does. Her life is worthy, her life is valued and her life is supported and loved.

Our little family of 3 ( 4 including our fur baby) lives in British Columbia, Canada. My husband and I have been together for 10 years. We were blessed with Presley’s presence after trying to conceive for 4 years. We do hope to have another child so Presley will have a sibling, but it is not in our cards we will be happy the way our family is. Like I mentioned previously Presley is the ray of sunshine our family needed.

Down syndrome is truly a gift! A gift I never knew my life needed until our precious package arrived. We love you Presley Anne. You will change the World!

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Roman 12:2 NIV
