We are adopting!
We are adopting! Yes you read that right! Anyone that knows what we have gone through this past year is probably saying, “Are you crazy?!”
Yes! We are crazy about our Lord and savior! We are majorly flawed and far from perfect people. However, we want to do our best to be obedient to The Lord. We know that The Lord is calling us to adopt a special needs child.
At times we thought, “The Lord couldn’t be asking us to do this! Our daughter is getting ready to have open heart surgery, we don’t have a big house and we don’t have the money to pay for the cost of an international adoption!” However, during this time The Lord kept reminding us of James 1:27, Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
We began praying, reading, and researching, praying reading, and researching and more praying! We didn’t think we could adopt but we decided we would send in some paperwork just to make sure. We knew when we would be denied, it was confirmation that we were crazy to even think God was calling us to adopt! Well to our amazement we were approved! The door was wide open with several paths to take. We knew that if The Lord was in this He would open the door and if this wasn’t what He was calling us to, He would close the door.
With several confirmations from God, we are being lead to adopt a special needs child from Eastern Europe. We are taking the traditional route and hoping to adopt a toddler with Down syndrome. However this could change at any time as we follow The Lord’s leading. What we do know is we are adopting a special needs child from Eastern Europe. God has brought us this far and we are going to rely on God to carry us all the way through!
Yes! This is scary. Yes! There are many, many concerns, but we are trusting God. As we thought about all our concerns, the Holy Spirit impressed on us, Fear Not for I am with you! Fear not is mentioned 365 times in the Bible. One for every day of the year! We are choosing faith over fear. We are saying, Yes, to his calling. We are saying, “YES! Lord here we are! Send us Lord!”
We also will be working hard to raise the funds needed for the adoption, which are $30,000 – $35,000. We have already been hard at work planning and preparing items to sell. Shane is chopping firewood to sell. The kids have been crafting and I have been crocheting.
Would you please pray for our family, our adoptive child and the adoption process?
